Finance and Service Mapping

The Older People's Mental Health Mapping framework was launched in November 2005 to coincide with the publication of the service development guide.

The Mental Health Service Mapping 2009 reports are now available to the public online at: http://www.mhcombinedmap.org/Reports.aspx
In additional to the usual reports the following have been added:

  • Time series reports - to compare staffing, bed numbers and caseload between two years
  • Find service report - to find an individual service by name or postcode

The 2009 service mapping directory of service contact details is also available to the public at: http://www.mhcombinedmap.org/Directory.aspx

Further down this page you can download the report of the Finance Mapping 2006/07 and access the results of the 2007 and 2008 Service Mapping.

A similar process of mapping, which allows monitoring of service development, has already been developed as part of the National Service Frameworks for mental health and for children. This has also proved invaluable for local providers and commissioners as a basis for commissioning discussions, as it provides a transparent way of benchmarking service elements alongside activity data.

The mapping framework should help organisations understand local service arrangements and explore how some service elements may replace others. It also aims to identify ageism in service delivery and provide the basis of a local service directory for users and carers.

Data is now available for 2008 and 2007

Services are identified by type and described in some detail, including staffing, availability and functions.
