University helps to develop free dual diagnosis e-learning course

The National Mental Health Development Unit's Improving Care Pathways programme commissioned a group of consultant nurses (PROGRESS) and Coventry University to develop an innovative online awareness raising resource relating to people who have both mental health and drug/alcohol use issues.

Using a jargon-free approach to make it as accessible as possible, the project will focus on promoting awareness of the basic issues surrounding the effective care and treatment of people who have both mental health and drug and alcohol use problems. The e-learning course comprises four modules including an introduction to dual diagnosis, a study of how mental health awareness impacts substance abuse, and, in turn, how awareness of substance abuse impacts mental health.
