review the quality of Independent Mental Health Advocate services in
England

Required to Work in partnership with Research
Team
University of Central Lancashire are
looking to recruit 6-8 people who have used mental health services to become researchers
on a Department of Health funded research project to review the quality of independent mental
health advocate services across England.
This project needs researchers
who are:
Aware through having used
mental health services of:
- the difficulties
facing mental health service users
- the difference that advocacy
can make
Interested in the impact of the statutory
duty in the law to make mental health advocacy available, to certain groups of
people detained under 1983 the Mental Health Act, on service users and carers
Keen to learn and to develop
interviewing skills and experience
Committed to working in
partnership with the research team and have experience of team work
Respecting of:
- people's privacy and the need for
confidentiality
- the priority for
objectivity and impartiality
Persevering - used to sticking
with tasks
Organised - e.g. in planning and good time-keeping.
Some Experience - Preferably some
experience of interviewing.
A daily fee will be paid to
either the individual or a nominated organisation and expenses will be
reimbursed. Training will be given and interviewers will need to have a CRB
