The NMHDU Mental Health Equalities Programme (MHEP) welcomed the publication today of the Alzheimer's Society report into dementia care in Acute General Hospitals Counting the Cost: caring for people with dementia www.alzheimers.org.uk
The MHEP's Let`s Respect campaign is a cornerstone of our Mental Health in Later Life work and is cited in the New Horizon's as a best practice example. Let`s Respect includes a toolkit and web based products primarily for healthcare staff who care for older people in acute hospitals who may have mental health needs. The Let`s Respect Resource Box includes powerful images and uses case studies to provide information and practical suggestions of how to better meet the mental health needs of older people focusing particularly on acute care settings.
