The National Mental Health Development Unit commissioned this project in May 2010 to
scope the current national input and future potential of Community and
Voluntary Organisations (CVOs) to provide or contribute to the delivery
of Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion (CJLD) services.
Specifically, the associated objectives of the commission were to establish a comprehensive understanding of:
- Existing CVO provision;
- Extent of untapped capacity for increased CVO involvement; and
- Specific capacity and challenges for CVOs in the provision of diversion and liaison services.
