This conference will explore the demographics and patterns of suicide among young people; also, the psychology behind suicidal behaviour and the factors involved. Speakers will explore the links between self-harm and suicide - those that are true and those based on myth. Also, the issue around how frontline professionals deal with those who self-harm or attempt suicide - often an area where individual treatment and intervention has a lasting impact. A series of workshops will investigate successful preventative programmes among young people in secure settings and young people in schools and universities.
